What to Expect in Your First Session

In our first session, we will complete a small amount of registration paperwork and talk through some important key elements of our work together, such as confidentiality.

We will be able to talk more about the issues bringing you to counselling and what in particular you would like to work on.   Don't worry if you don't know what these are in our first session - sometimes your goals and aims don't become clear until we have been working together for a few weeks.

We will also discuss how I work as a counsellor and my adaptive approach to therapy to see if you have a feel for what type of therapy you are hoping to experience.  Again, don't worry at this stage if it feels confusing - often my work with clients evolves organically and naturally, which provides them with a genuine and highly therapeutic experience.

Ali really listened to my challenges that I have been facing.  She has helped me see how I can approach things differently.   She was always respectful to the sensitive and difficult issues I bought to our sessions

Thank you so much Ali - I can now see the positives in me, not just the negatives

Ali really understood what I was trying to say.  When I was confused,  she asked me questions to help me understand myself better and explain why I was feeling the way I am.  Then I could start to grow
